(1) Stay in the Ocean Suites as opposed to the Marina Tower. They have a nice lunch restaurant with sandwiches and. While walking across a bridge on the island we looked down at the water and saw two blow fish and an octopus. pink flamingos live on the beach and wander around the chairs and tiki huts on the beach. The private island is a secluded "Gilligan's Island" with abundant shade provided by dozens of coconut palms. You get to take a 7 or 8 minute ride by speedboat leaving from either the Marina Tower or the helicopter pad at the Ocean Suites. (2) If you do nothing else, go the the resort's private island also known as "Renaissance Island". The Ocean Suites formerly was a separate resort and sits directly on the Caribbean Sea with a beautiful pool area (with two palm tree studded islands in the middle of the pool) and a nice swim-up pool bar with a television you can watch from the water. The Marina Tower has more of a downtown feel and sits directly across the street from and overlooks a beautiful harbor / marina. Although this resort is commonly referred to as being "downtown". The Ocean Suites are all one-bedroom units with a separate living room and kitchenette.
